Första gången orten Kalix (känd som Gájnaj på lulesamiska) nämns är i slutet av 1400-talet. Området är kanske mest känt för Kalix Löjrom, vars unika smak har formats över tid av de särskilda egenskaperna i vattnet.
Tillverkad av bioacetat, en blandning av trä och bomullsmassa. Både trä och bomull är förnybara resurser som är lättillgängliga i vår närhet. På svenska är det ungefär känt som “Norrlands arv”. På latin kallas det Stellaria Borealis (Norra stjärnan eller Norrskenets stjärna) och känns igen på sina vitstjärniga blommor, fyrkantiga stjälkar och lansettformade blad.
